How to perform the movement

  1. Stand holding weight at thigh level with an underhand grip.
  2. Use a slight hip drive to start the curl.
  3. Curl the weight up toward your shoulders explosively.
  4. Lower the weight slowly under control through the full range.
  5. Repeat for the desired number of reps.

Technique cues and common mistakes

  • Keep the hip drive small so your biceps still do most of the work.
  • Avoid leaning back excessively to protect your lower back.
  • Keep your elbows close to your torso throughout the curl.
